Arbriden

Overview

A tan skinned desert people living in lands adjacent to Tyoka and original Dargon, and allies with the Iksen people, the people who share common ancestors with Dosjoryans.
Location
Far across the ocean from Dosjorya lies the continent often called Tyoka, named for the region originally claimed by the Iksen people. West of a long mountainous range extending hundreds of miles and east of another, older mountain range sits a vast rocky desert home to the Arbriden people and before that, their ancestors the Ibral people. Much of their settlements lie on coasts, the Rubal River, and next to oases linked by well maintained roads. Their lands stretch far to the north, beyond the limits of their civilization where vast riches can be found underground by the hardiest of fortune seekers, or more commonly by criminals forced to work the mines.
Universal Cultural Aspects
Owing to their long history of surviving in a harsh land, Arbridens are instilled from an early age the value of helping one's neighbors and those in need. Water is nearly as valuable as gold and is the one resource that no one is allowed to "own." Because of everyone's willingness to share water with others, no one worries about running out unless the source for a particular village or town dries up.   Killing one's fellow Arbridens is strictly prohibited, punishable by harsh forced labor. The idea of killing is so abhorrent that there is no single offense in Arbriden society punishable by death; it is reserved solely for repeat criminals who continue to be a threat to the wellbeing of society.   All Arbridens adhere to the same religion to various degrees, believing in three gods. Their religion would be adopted by the Dargonians after the conquest of the Iksen people. It speaks of the gods of Sorrow, Speed and Strength. representing the world full of pain and suffering and the qualities to strive for in order to find peace and joy.
Connection With Dosjorya
The Arbridens are close allies with the Iksen people for whom Dosjoryans are descended from. When the Dargonians took over the Iksen and relegated them to a single large island off of the mainland, it was the Arbridens whi supported them, and eventually took up arms alongside to banish the Dargonians. As their military might and capibilities were far superior than Iksa's at that point, the Arbridens did much of the fighting against the Dargonians and all of the enforcement of their complete banishment, making them primarily responsible for the conflict Dosjoryans would go on to face.    The expedition that would go on to settle Dosjorya did not have any Arbridens aboard, but many Iksen scholars and tradesmen were fluent in the Arbrid language. Over time this language was all but forgotten in Dosjorya, but ghosts of it remain in that it has inspired the names for several settlements and countless first names.   Arbrid's three gods, Sorrow, Speed and Strength, are the same as the identically named gods of the Six at war with the Two. Knowledge that their are a total of eight gods, not three, is unknown among the Arbridens, and Dosjoryans do not know the location of these three "missing" gods.
