Abiken Fomalp
Overview
Born across the ocean to the Iksen couple Truklet and Tharda Fomalp prior to the war against and the exile of the Dargonian people. Though young, displays great curiosity and a strong desire to follow his father's footsteps as an Iksen scholar and legislative advisor. However, circumstances during the war force him and some other young Iksen children to cross the ocean with the Dargonians as prisoners.Appearance and Personality
During the war across the ocean, Abiken was considered a little short for his age, though he was still growing and his height would be considered slightly above average for a Dosjoryan. With some Arbriden ancestry, his skin is tanned more than the average Iksen or Dosjoryan. Arbrid influence also gives him black hair, though his brown eyes likely come from both of his ethnicities. Growing up in a life of an academic during hard times, Abiken is lean and soft, not conditioned to hard physical labor though not used to having an abundance of food. With his earliest years coming from before any warfare, Abiken was free to follow his father in the pursuit of knowledge and the art of using academics to help lead a nation. A desire to learn guided Abiken towards all sorts of topics, most notably history, myths, religion, and politics. Having grown up sheltered, Abiken resisted learning about natural sciences beyond basics, for he never believed he would make any use of such deeper knowledge. Despite devoting himself to his teachings, Abiken easily made friends from among his Iksen counterparts, children of legislators and people of importance. While not outgoing, he was never considered shy, and everyone believed him to be kind and helpful. Abiken also had a strong sense of justice which led to him supporting his father and the people of Iksa as much as a young man could. By the time Dargon was exiled from the lands across the ocean, Abiken was only a few years from becoming a man and well aware of what was going on around him.History
Prior to his forced arrival to Dosjorya as a prisoner, he and other Iksen children were taken by the Dargonians for many reasons. During the war, many innocent Dargonian children had been killed in a single, ill advised attack. Arbrid and Iksa felt remorse for that day and conceded Dargon one demand after the war despite Dargon having lost its right to live on the continent. The taking of the children of Iksen officials, not to be killed but to live as prisoners, was seen as a fair trade for the Dargonian children lost. Abiken and his family, among others, fought this, but were over ruled by the mainly Arbriden officials who did not want tensions to escalate into another war and who they themselves were not experiencing a loss of their children. Abiken reluctantly said goodbye as shackles were fitted to his wrists, knowing he would never see his family again and may soon die as no one knew what stood beyond the horizon. Iksa never found any traces of the grand expeditions it sent thousands of years ago. The Dargonians most likely had other reasons as well, though these were never stated out loud. Abiken's father, Truklet, told Abiken a likely reason was for him and other children to be used as leverage if Iksa ever sought to find Dargon's new home. Truklet said he did not have enough sway to urge Iksen officials to send more expeditions after the Dargonians left, nor did their people have the resources for such a thing. But he promised Abiken that he would try to do everything in his power to bring Abiken back. Both knew the chances of a reunion were none. While traveling over the ocean, Abiken dreamed of what he and the Dargonians might find. If they landed on an uninhabited region, there would be peace as his captors worked to build a new civilization. If they found other humans, specifically those that sailed from Tyoka long ago, there might be violence but also new things to learn, a new nation to study. Perhaps even a need for someone willing to study and put together records into a cohesive history for the Dargonians to read. He doubted as a prisoner that he would ever get to use his talents, though he never lost hope that perhaps, especially if the Dargonians found habited lands, that he could escape and make a new life as a scholar for a new people.
