Greenhalten, The Iconol Cliffs, and Kam Dieren (Kam Dee-Air-En)

While to an outsider the portside village of Greenhalten and the surrounding area may look like a peaceful cliffside, citizens and veterans of both Linrea and Calumdor know it was the site of one of, if not the most important battles in the Linrean-Calumdorian War. It was here that, at the edge of a 500ft drop, Calumdorian Captain Axidor Kalnoky formally surrendered to the Linrean forces to perserve the lives of his remaining army. Many companies subsequently backed down as well, seeing that the war was finally over and had gone in Linrea's favor. Nowadays, many travel to this quiet cliffside to honor those who fell in the conflict, with a stone statue of a war-torn Linrean banner serving as remembrance for the conflict as a whole.

Demographics

Being so close to the shoreline, a majority of Greehalten's population is composed of human dockworkers and fishermen. Calumdor's high population of elves naturally means some are present within the village, and one might happen upon a halfling or dwarf in the bustling portside inns. Many of these inhabitants rely on the constant in and out flow of ships into the area, taking advantage of its respite from the harshness of the Altin Ocean . They serve as cargo workers, repair crews, sailmakers, carpenters, innkeepers, shopkeeps, and a variety of other jobs necessary to keep a ship afloat and a crew happy. Additionally, the relative ease of access to the Altin means fishermen can make a killing in the fish-rich waters, if they are brave enough to venture out there.

Defences

Being constructed on the Iconol cliffs, Greenhalten is naturally defended from the south by the ocean. Threats from the other 3 sides will have to deal with a constant barrage of arrows, as the local militia is trained regularly to take advantage of the constant upward shift in elevation in the area. As for the lower portion of the village surrounding Kam Dieren, a majority of the defense is to be orchestrated by the sailors currently docked in port, as all ships must agree in writing before docking to relinquish their fighting men to the village's defense in case of emergency.

Geography

The wind-battered cliffs and sheer drops of the Iconol Cliffs shelter calm waters in the nearby bay of Kam Dieren, providing ships a clear and clean entrance into Serotonia from the southern edges. Kam Dieren's rocky shoreline blocks most large waves from entering from the Altin Ocean, and acts as a barrier point dividing the Altin from the Remai Ocean.
