Clararton Curative Clinic

The Clararton Curative Clinic can be found in the free city of Bartolara, a community dedicated to the healing arts.  Not only does it contain the foremost experts on healing and restoration, but also stands as a shining example of compassion and caring.    Despite being a very young establishment, Bartolara and the Clararton Curative Clinic have become known throughout the realms as the leaders in health innovation, research, and healing. People of all races, ethnicity, religions, stations, and alignments are welcomed and cared for here equally and without judgement.

Purpose / Function

The clinic was part of the dream envisioned by Clararton Bartolara almost 200 years ago as a place to heal all varieties of injuries and diseases.  Part of her vision was to create a place to combat pain and sickness and heal all ailments, including those that were spiritual, prayerful, or medicinal.   Not only would this be a place of mending and curing, but also of medical research and development of procedures, practices, and technologies.  Her hope was to freely spread these advances throughout the land and thereby spread hope and healing across the world farther and longer than any single person could on their own as a traveling healer.   The Clararton Curative Clinic is totally dedicated to only the immediate healing and repair of the sick and injured.  The Clararton Restorative Clinic is dedicated to the long term care of chronic illness and recovery.  Once patients have been cared for in the curative clinic they are then transferred to the restorative clinic before being released after recuperation.

Denizens

Any number and type of healer can be found traveling from room to room throughout all hours of the day and night, attending to a wide variety of patients with all manner ailments.

Valuables

The only things of value inside of the rooms are the patients themselves and possibly a variety of healing equipment and paraphernalia.  All personal items are prohibited from being in the rooms with patients here.

Architecture

This building was designed and constructed by the dwarves of Guan Din and made of red granite speckled with black, pink, and white minerals. The floors are made from grey slate tiles, as is the roof. The dwarves built this into a large, equal length, cross shaped building aligned with the 4 cardinal compass directions, and consisted of 2 sublevels below the ground floor and 2 levels above the ground floor. All 5 levels are constructed identically with the same materials and floor plans.  Ground floor entrances can be found at the West, East, North, and South ends of the cross.  The roof is nearly flat with a slight pitch to it that directs any rainfall to the water catchment system located at the center of the structure.  Here the water is sent through the center of the building and seen as calm waterfall that flow into a small garden pool before continuing down to the storage reservoir below the building.

Rooms

While all of the rooms in the building are identical in size and shape, easily accommodating two patients, their locations relative to the 4 directions and their level above or below ground intentionally affects many of their environmental characteristic including the temperature, humidity, and lighting.  This allows the healers to move the patients to locations around the building that are most beneficial in aiding the healing and recovery of the patients.    While the number of patients in the building fluctuates from time to time, there has been a slow increase in those seeking care over the years.  The high success rate of the healers currently keeps the building between 60 and 65 percent full.  Patient rooms are located in each of the 4 wings and rooms located in the center of the building are used as meeting rooms, operating rooms, and equipment storage rooms.  Unused rooms are always kept prepared for future patients.

Alterations

When the dwarves constructed this building, they built it to last. It has not needed any kind of repairs or alterations in all of its years of use so far. While some may have scoffed at them for building it so large, the dwarves believed in Clararton's vision and planned for its long term successful future.

Tourism

Tourists are strictly prohibited from entering the clinic.  Only the healers and their patients are allowed to be inside.  Family members and their closest associates are allowed to visit the patients once they have been transferred to the Clararton Restorative Clinic.

I thought that they were gonna stick me up high in one of those blasted rooms, like some cursed caged bird. I never thought those healers would have underground rooms just for us. Seems like they thought of everything. Heart to the hearth.
— Rhyo Firestoke (Ruball Dwarf from Guan Din)

"Shouldn’t we just burn it as we go?"   "No. We’ll go around."   "It will cost us THREE days. The enemy might be ready for us by then. We NEED to go through."   "I said, “WE’LL GO AROUND”. Our troops will be needing healers after this. Bartolara never takes sides. They just fight sickness and injuries. They will heal us just as much as they’ll heal the enemy."
