Captain
Captain Barras Kouda, as he likes to announce himself, is the local hero of the seafaring city of Waterwhite. He is regarded by the locals as a great hero and philanthropist. He acquired his fortune and glory by apprehending a notorious pirate captain and each of the crew members. He is now a semiretired pirate hunter, fully licensed by the city.

General Physical Condition
He is tall and muscular with medium length brown hair kept out of his face and tied back in a short pony tail. A handlebar mustache and several earrings and to his appearance.

Personal history
Barras was born in 702 A.S., in the small village of Kouda, just a few years before it was burned by goblin raiders. The surviving children were taken in by nearby town churches. Any who were too young to know their family names, were given the last name of the town that they had lived in. Barras' time with the church was tumultuous, but he stayed with them until he was old enough to be apprenticed on the whaling ship, "The Ivory Spear". He worked as a sailor onboard several vessels over the years, learning seamanship, fighting, and pirating.
It wasn't until his work on the pirate ship "The Cackling Queen", that he hatched his greatest plan to gain fame and fortune. After several years of work and several successful missions, he decided that he would capture the captain, the ship, and the crew and turn them in for their great rewards, and then he would dig up their treasures as well.
After meeting with several members of the city council he was granted approval and set in plan in motion. During the crew's shore leave, he replaced the captain's favorite rum with a sleeping potion and brought her to the city prison. When she awoke, she refused to speak, so Barras offered to interrogate her in private. He already knew everything he needed to about the ship and the crew, so he pretended to have acquired the valuable information, much to the surprise of the council. He then returned to the ship and told the crew that the captain had been captured and he told them all how to split up and where to hide out. Barras returned to the council for arrest warrants for each of the crew, but he insisted on dead or alive warrants due to their murderous ways. He then hired some mercenaries and hunted down and killed the rest of the crew, bringing them to the council for their rewards. He then auctioned off the ship, dug up the treasure, and gave half of it to the town.
As he brought in pirate after pirate his fame and notoriety grew, as did his bank account. Then when he donated half of the treasure to the town, he was proclaimed a local hero. He was asked to stay on as an official pirate hunter working for the city. He asked for and was granted his own ship, "The Fortune", and bought a nice place on a hill overlooking the city and the sea.
Education
Barras has not received any formal education. Everything he has learned is from on the job training as a member of a pirate crew.
Employment
At 10 years old he started out working on the whaling ship, "The Ivory Spear", until it sank nine years later. At 19 he joined the pirate ship "The Three Eyes", until it was captured eight years later. At 27 he joined "The Cheetah" pirate vessel until it caught fire and burned up six years later. At 33 he joined the pirate ship "The Cackling Queen", under Captain Greywind. He served here for seven years before betraying the ship and capturing the captain. Afterwards he became a licensed pirate hunter for the city of Waterwhite, hunting down the remaining pirates and digging up and seizing their loot.
Barras is currently semiretired as the captain of the pirate hunting ship "The Fortune". He still remains a registered pirate hunter with the council at Waterwhite.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Fame found him as he captured the renegade pirate Gretchin "The Grey Wind". He was further elevated as he systematically apprehended her former crew. Then he really won over the people as he dug up the hidden treasures and donated half of it to the city.
Failures & Embarrassments
Barras never advanced at all, in the ranks of any of the ships that her served upon. He was seen purely as hired muscle and as an expendable resource easily replaced.
Mental Trauma
The death of his parents at a young age and subsequent life on the street created his disdain for all deities and his view of people as nothing more than targets and a means to an end.

Despite the lack of formal education, Barras is quite wise, intelligent, and street smart. He is a people person and can read them quite well. He enjoys telling them what they want to hear in order to strike up a friendship and gain information that he can use in some way.

Barras only looks out for himself and has no problem hurting or betraying anyone to further his own schemes and lot in life. Lying, cheating, stealing, are just tools for him to use to get what he wants. He has no compunction about breaking any laws or breaking the trust of his comrades in arms. To him, the ends always justify the means, and loose ends should always be killed.

He hates all deities and religious people. He also despises magic users of all kinds. He cannot comprehend how any of them exist and he seeks to slay them first in battle.
