The Scroll of Beiler (bye-ler)

Almost exclusively recognized by the Azarok Dwarfs, the Scroll of Beiler is said to descend from the Forgemaster of the deity JatragBeiler. It recounts the Songs of Fire, sung before time by the servants of Jatrag. These songs are taken to heart by the Azarok, but many other dwarfs also know them. The Scroll of Beiler is controversial to dwarfish religion because it emphasizes the works of Beiler in the forging of dwarfish magic. At times, this has caused war in the dwarfish race.
The Scroll of Beiler was first recognized by the dwarfish chief Tyngard Badbreath. Tyngard's descendants continued to be proponents of it, stating that the great Beiler was the first true dwarf. War broke out after a dwarf insurgent attempted to light the scroll on fire. According to legend, the fire froze, although the heat remained. The insurgent, in shock, moved closer, and "the fire leapt from where it sat, clawing onto the heretic with the ferocity of a starved dog. The scroll remained, unscathed." The Tales of Arbud. Whatever actually happened, the Azarok dwarfs wanted revenge, confident that this mythic display cemented their understanding of the scroll's value. The war was swift. The Azarok soon realized they did not have the strength to overpower the other dwarfish clans, and peace was soon sought. Taking the scroll, the Azarok migrated south, to avoid further confrontations. Overtime, wounds healed and interaction between the dwarfs somewhat normalized.
The scroll itself is about 2 feet tall, and when unrolled spans 13 feet. It's written in an ancient tongue, which requires many years to learn. Although translations of various parts have been made, the dwarfs tended to think that it was best practice to read and understand in the original language.
