The Hive Flower

Connected by a vast web of roots, the hive flower invasively spreads its pedals across all of the Terralesque Desert.

All Connected

The hive flower really consists of a bunch of flowers, all sticking their thorny stems out of the sand. They have purple pedals with a black center, and they are usually spotted in fields of about 2 or 3 dozen. Beneath the surface all of these flowers work together as one single unit. They gather sunlight and share it with those in the shade. They harvest the little nutrients that hides in the sand and divide it evenly with all of them.   There does exist a "core" to these plants, right in the center of the Terralesque Desert. If all roots were to be severed from this core, the plants would be working without a brain, and they would all eventually rot.

Growth

The hive flower spreads its roots like a plague. If it can manage to spawn more flowers, it will absolutely seize that opportunity. The more it grows, the more resources it has to continue growing. Its blossoming flowers spread exponentially.    The hive flower is also very competitive. If it senses another plant in its path, it will surround it with blossoms in order to starve it of resources. Fields of hive flower blossoms are usually only filled with hive flower blossoms.   Luckily, the desert isn't an ideal place for this flower to live, so its growth is somewhat halted. If it can somehow make it passed the Terralesque mountains, Distotia will be in a lot of trouble, as the hive flower will start picking into their farms.

Poison

The hive flower is poisonous. Don't let it get to your crops! People have yet to intentionally use the hive flower's poison. It isn't super potent, but it is enough to ruin a harvest. Two or three blossoms worth could kill a small humanoid.
