Disparity

The midpoint of the twenty-third century has passed. After the advent of FTL travel and the resulting rush for the stars, the galaxy is beginning to settle into a tense political climate, with its powers divided among three major players: The Federation, The Republic of Unified Planets and the Alliance of Independent Planets. Earth, a major power in the Federation during the First Expansion, has retained its position as head of the Federation but has withdrawn from it as anything more than a trade partner and figurehead. The Federation planets Vesuvius and Proxima Centauri compete for power in the resulting political vacuum. Vesuvius, struggling to find a foothold against Proxima Centauri, begins to resort to new measures in pursuit of power and a means to unite its divided people.

Heads up that I started this when I was Small and I'm in the process of updating it so if it looks like it was written by a small child, it probably was.
