Elven Birthdays

Most of the younger races do not believe that elves celebrate birthday. This is far from the truth. Elves celebrate milestone birthdays with music and rites of passage.
The oldest race in all of the worlds is the elves. They are the oldest due to their close kinship with dragons and their long lives. Since elves live for so long it is widely believed that they do not celebrate birthdays. This could not be further from the truth. All elves celebrate birthdays, but how they are celebrated varies from culture to culture. The earliest known rites were made by the first elves, the Woodland Elves of Miyla.   The Woodland Elves of Miyla are more commonly known as the Miylian Elders were the first known elves to celebrate birthdays. These Woodland Elves didn't need much of an excuse to celebrate life wherever they found it. But for some reason, the birthdays of their own were very important. They celebrated with music, dancing, feasting, and drinking. The one that was being celebrated would be given gifts for themselves and their family. The gifts could be useful or just for fun. Hide and seek was a common game for the little ones to play as their elders chatted about the future. The one being celebrated would also sometimes have to pass a rite of passage. The rite would differ with age and season.

History

Birthday celebrations started as a way to celebrate the young life of the child. It grew to include the whole family and the blessing that they had that one of their own was still with them. The Miylian Elders are the only known elves to have celebrate every birthday. These parties grew into festivals of life and joy. After the Miylian Meteor fell and the Miylian Elders were scattered to the four winds of the world they took their celebrations with them. Although how birthdays were celebrated would change from the different elven groups that started to pop up.
