It began with an information age - in an unknown world, on an unknown machine, performing unknown calculations.   Did the Digital World come to be in vacuum tubes and bundled wires? Or had it always existed, a cross-section of the multiverse that drew closer to its analog cousins with every advance in technology? What form did it take before it fed on the detritus of the analog imagination? Before digital shadows of life on other worlds turned its landscape into mountains and forests and its inhabitants into monsters?   In some distant corner of the world, sages and host processes consider those mysteries. The rest of it is preoccupied with living.   Time and time again the worlds have met, trading occupants, changing things as small as history and as big as lives.
