The Menagerie explore a Spider Forest in the Feywild.

Around... Fellnight 9, 2020 KC (☣️Feywild Time☣️)

Spider Forest of the Feywild, Feywild, Skola Vale The Dark Rain Forest, Kampos Party woke from a long rest after the Almiraj had left them a gemstone. They decided to head back to the Fomorians so they could loot their bodies. They found 2 Displacer Beasts munching on the remains.




2 Displacer Beasts

The Battle:

Displacer Beast moves, takes spore damage, then strikes out at Arktos, hits and misses. Moves. Attacked with opportunity attacks, and Shadow slices it with Barlo missing. tabletalk on Bastion's spells

trying to figure out how many cantrip attacks... There is a difference between "attack" action and "cast a spell" action. Some confusion since some spells are using "attack" and the term "attack" is used too many times... Ray of Frost is casting a spell. Helpful resource.

Bastion Bladesinger attacks with the sword, then casts Frostbite. Shadow in the Snow shifts the Hunter's Mark, attacks. Barlo moves, wreckless attack, misses. A crit with the claw! Miss. Calliope Galanodel uses Vicious Mockery. "Get away from here you overgrown mouse" to the Displacer Beast. It doesn't land. It moves to Calliope who just attacked, and Barlo uses his opportunity attack and misses. It is making a break for it, but goes for Calliope as it is limping past, and the spores begin to cover him after Arktos swiped his legs.

Tabletalk on tools and disadvantage

Reminder on lack of knowledge on tools gives a disadvantage for a while until you are comfortable, including the dissecting of creatures. a reminder on how costly in money and time it is to pick up a skill. also a reminder these dissections take time.

head back to the Hag. Bastion spots someting in the ground and gets stuck in a Web as it is surrounded by Spiders and an Ettercap. The party finds themselves Restrained with Spiders surrounding them. Bastion casts Misty Step to get out of the webbing. They start using flames to burn some of the webs.

The Battle:

Barlo moves and looks around. Calliope moves and recalls she knows a bit about Ettercaps, and used a Vicious Mockery. Giant Spiders attack with webs. Barlo moves. Attacks the Ettercap. "what the fuck are you?" and it screams at him. Barlo is attacked, but they miss. Spores attack Spiders. Calliope is attacked. Sas casts Shillelagh, hits a spider. Dead. Bastion casts Hex, level 3 Scorching Ray. (I realize as I type this that it was an illegal move). Kills a spider creature? not sure... Attacks on Barlo. Hits. Stops the poison effect. Shadow drops the sword, uses bow...? Arktos? Calliope moves. Casts a Frightened type spell, fails. Inspires the party with a thing and gives some extra hp to all.

giant Spiders move, attack for Sas and Web her, but fails as it burns in the air from spores. Barlo gets up, jumps in front of the Ettercap and strikes out at him. Kills him, slams down and a death cry goes out. The Spiders all around stop. Sas moves, Shillelagh. Smashes another one. Bastion moves. Moves the Hex Scorching Ray. Some hit. Flames on webs. Swarms start moving up into the trees. Spiders start retreating, the party grabs the bag. Sees a Skeleton underneath it.

stopped for the night and could see a house though the trees They go through the bag.

a bunch of Crystal jars: the glass/Crystal seems to have transparent runes and a getstone topping the corks

Bastion checks out the spellbook. Calliope reviews the other book, seems he is an explorer looking for creatures and such. Nothing on the jars. Discussions on flowers, Plants, and creatures he hopes to see. Bastion sees the fence and house in the distance, then a rustle. Tharros the Wanderer appears during Bastion's watch and tells them they are afflicted by a Pixie curse, gives him a flat blue stone to combat the curse. He says "I see you almost made it to the Hag". His doppleganger creations helped him realize this. Seems arcane spells should max damage when they hit, but Bastion has not been doing so. He also says how he has been keeping an eye on them. He also knows Shadow has an object that should have saved her from a curse, but it wasn't working. Bastion recalls tharros is called the wanderer and he pops in and out of history. Barlo took out Alchemy Jug and the Headband of Intellect

The Feywild is technically an echo of the material plane, but due to many factors time and space can stretch and bend. So it is near impossible to truly map the Feywild, as well as how the plane will affect people differently so a map for one person might not totally work for another. this is a rough idea of how it affects The Mighty Menagerie during their travels in 2020 as they sought to help the Village of Skola Vale
