Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

Culture is one of constant self-improvement to benefit the whole of society. It is also one of peace. The Ejii'aari have no concept of selfiishness nor of war and do not understand them either. Their culture revolves around the Guon, which also stores their memories, history and knowledge as long as at least one member of the species remembers the relevant information.

Shared customary codes and values

The values of Jianghi (virtue, self-improvement, etc.) are the most predominant values, along with selflessness and acting in the interest of the community.

Average technological level

Increadibly advanced techonolgy one would expect from a sci-fi society, complete with Adstrumite-based force-fields and hovering transportation.

Common Etiquette rules

It is not considered polite to "yell" one's emotions as these tend to send ripples through Guon which can be distracting to the rest of the species. In the case that one is particularly agitated, one has the duty to mute themselves in order to preserve public peace. However, constant shielding is considered rude and untrustworthy.   The use of music and colour to convey meaning and emotion is common and expected in communication. The colours have roughly the following associations (there is missing some):   Red: happiness, joy, good fortune Pink: Softness, innocence Orange: Fire, passion Yellow: Heroism, victory Green: Cowardice, fear, sickly Blue: Knowledge, intelligence Purple: Humility, thanks Violet: Sensuality Black: Sadness, death, mourning, absence White: Purity, peace Brown: Mistrust, supicion, irony

Common Dress code

Showing excessive amounts of skin is unusual, but this is due to Ejian's freezing climate. Traditional clothing of Ejii'aari tends to be long and simple, with a lot of wrap-around peices. Fur is very common.

Art & Architecture

Architecture is gravity defying and favours vertical preogression, elegant curves and polished surfaces. Cities are made to blend harmoniously with Ejian's icy landscape and to evoque ice, snow and wind. Major colour palette is usually silver, white and blue.   Art follows the Ejii'aari fascination for the balance between intricacy and simplicity, and tends to be minimalist at first sight but increadibly rife with meaning upon analysis.
