Proxima Centauri

Proxima Centauri is a red dwarf star with a contingent of 9 planets. It is the closest star system to Sol, and the home system of the Prometheans. While technically a gravitational subsystem of the Alpha Centauri binary, Proxima is so distant that it is typically listed as a separate system.

Geography

Location

Proxima Centauri lies in a very wide, loose orbit around the Alpha Centauri binary system in a 550000-year cycle. It is currently just over 4 lightyears from Sol, placing it very close to the approximate center of known space.
