Yuja

Yuja is a discipline that combines martial arts with yogic practices, developed within the Saffron Robes to coordinate with their holistic values, with the focus of the breath and flow visualisation as the core aspects of the art.

Overview

Initially developed as a peaceful practice that quickly adapted to warfare, Yuja was developed to harness spiritual energy and yogic powers through holistic means and without the reliance of bionics thanks to the knowledge of Maya, the half-deva founder of the Saffron Robes. When the faction fought in times of war against hostile outsiders and Devic clans, the monks travelled across Lumbini Valley and beyond to absorb many forms of yoga and martial arts, returning with the knowledge to master the combined techniques under the art of Yuja, preserved and taught within the monastic grounds.   The focus lies in a harmonic alteration between stillness and movement, allowing the user to go with an internal flow to unlock psychic reflexes that outmatch ordinary foes. This discipline is further taught through the usage of melee weapons, firearms and tactical equipment, all coming together within the same flow to convert the user into a dexterous spiritual warrior. The deepest schools of this art remain as hidden knowledge deep within the inner sanctums of the Saffron temples and even beyond the mundane realm.   Unlike worshiping gods to attain divine powers, Yuja has its spiritual roots in meditating to let go and thus release oneself from desire and anguish, finding the flow that leads to this uplift of reflexes. Thus, the discipline is an anti-Devic ideology that comes across as very appealing the Untouchables, as it applies to all who undergo the practice, no matter their caste or karma. Despite accessibility, teachers of this art are wise to determine the trust of their students and can be willing to misguide those who desire to learn Yuja for the wrong intent.
