Elf

Elves are a magical people of otherworldly grace, living in the world but not entirely part of it. They hail from the Plane of Nature, known as the Feywild in some parts of the world, and is the Plane of Existence closest to the one inhabited by Dharguun. They live in places of ethereal beauty, in the midst of ancient forests or in silvery spires and castles, glittering with faerie light where soft music drifts through the air and gentle fragrances waft on the breeze. Elves love nature and magic, art and artistry, music and poetry, and the good things of the world.   Like the branches of a young tree, elves are flexible in the face of danger. They trust in diplomacy and compromise to resolve differences before they escalate to violence. They have been known to retreat from intrusions. But when the need arises, elves reveal a stern martial side, demonstrating skill with sword, bow, and strategy. Elves take up adventuring out of wanderlust. Since they are so long-lived, they can enjoy centuries of exploration and discovery. Elves also enjoy exercising their martial prowess or gaining greater magical power, and adventuring allows them to do so. Some might join with rebels fighting against oppression, and others might become champions of moral causes.

Subraces

Hivokian (Wood Elves) Hivokian elves masters of martial combat. Most are a part of the Aristocracy or Warrior Castes and have a reputation for being fleet of foot and naturally stealthy. Their skin tones tend to be copperish or deep brown with green veins running beneath the skin. Hivokian elves live is large sprawling estates representative of the upper classes of Hivokian society, surrounded by families of lesser nobility acting as retainers.   Pelonian (High Elves) Pelonian elves have keen minds and mastery of at least the basics of magic. They act as wizards and strategists in the militaristic power structure of their homeland. They have bronze skin and hair of copper, black, or golden blond. Their eyes are golden, silver, or black.   Stoasulan (Drow) These elves have developed in the underground of Stoasue, causing them to have a sensitivity to sunlight and grey, charcoal or dark blue skin tones and commonly have very pale eyes (so pale as to be mistaken for white) in shades of lilac, silver, pink, red, and blue. When they must leave the comfort of their underground fortresses they travel in palanquins carried by slaves or draped from head to foot in bright robes and hoods with only their eyes visible through slits.   Fey (Eladrin) Eladrin are elves in their purest form, hailing from the Feywild (what the scholars of Dharguun call the Plane of Nature). Their cities sometimes cross over to the Material Plane, appearing briefly in mountain valleys or deep forest glades before fading back into the Feywild. They are taller than the elves of Dharguun, standing over 6ft, with pale, alabaster skin sometimes tinged with blue. They often have hair of silver-white, black, or blue, but various shades of blond, brown, and red are not uncommon. Their eyes are blue or green and flecked with gold.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Sylvan: The mother tongue of the Feywild, from which all variants of elvish are descended   Elven: A pidgeon language mixing Sylvan and the native language of the nation the elves hail from. People speaking different dialects of elven can, with some degree of difficulty make themselves understood to each other. Considered gutterspeak by many Eladrin and other denizens of the Feywild

History

The Plane of Nature is the closest to the Material Plane that Dharguun inhabits, so close that in some places, places of rampant growth or strong, wild magic, it is possible to step between the two worlds and not even realise. This is how the elves came to Dharguun. Hivokian legend says that the first elves crossed over when they were searching for where the moon went when it wasn't in the skies of the Feywild. They followed the moon and found themselves in Dharguun.
