Planetouched races
There are a lot of planetouched races in Desaroque, because of the amount of aether scars. Some of the races in D&D is reflavoured as planetouched for non-human races. Rather than being a descendant of outsiders, planetouched in Desaroque became so because of contact with aether scars, which gives magical influence to the baby in the womb. Dwarves, halflings, goblinoids & giant-kins (orcs & goliaths) seem to be quite resistant to planar influence, perhaps because of them being used to living side by side by aether scars. Although that doesn't explain the existence of Firbolgs and Gnomes.
