Demorpheus

In a small village in mid-western Canada, people are plagued with an odd condition. It is called a "sleepstroke" and as the name indicates, it kills people in their sleep. There are no known causes, and autopsies have served no explanation. It simply seems that their heart stops beating overnight, causing them to not wake up.   There is a single person who knows what's going on. Her name is Alix, and she's a 17 year old girl.     The dreams started vague. Nothing but a feeling, something fleeting and fading. But as time passes, she starts remembering more. Crowds of people. Large, twisted spaces. A creature, huge and terrifying and with too many eyes.   The crowd is made of people from her town. And when someone is taken by the beast… They do not wake up the next morning.   Alix begins avoiding sleep, drowning herself in her music, searching support in her friends, and all while trying to not give away hints of what she knows. This knowledge is dangerous. And she must protect everyone she possibly can.     This is the story of the friendship she forms, the confusion and powerlessness of being a teen, and solving a deep town-wide conspiracy. It explores the thin line between reality and the way we perceive it, as well as the power and motivations of teen rebellion.
