Ventakur

A minor municipality for miners mining mines.

Founded solely for the purposes of mining the nearby mountains for resources, Ventakur transports considerable amounts of copper, iron, silver, and gold ore from the Takur Mine by ship (usually to the outskirts of Aemark City). Though peaceful for the past fifty years, residents were once used to war between the Kingdom and Al'Orphic Alliance.
The Aemark Kingdom retains comfortable control of Ventakur due to having pushed the Alliance back to the Vintiz River to the north. However, Aemark has generally required more of Ventakur inhabitants in labor and resources than the Alliance, which causes consternation among the populace. While no open riots have occurred, grumbling persists even after fifty years of Aemark rule. As the war with the Alliance continues to escalate, the mines become increasingly important, resulting in a military contingent taking up residence, much to the chagrin of the locals.
Rumors have circulated that the Alliance plans to invade Ventakur by the South Sea, but the attack has not yet materialized. The unpredictable nature of South Sea storms would make such an attack high-risk, but potentially lucrative to cripple a key mining operation within Aemark.
