Lucky's Research Facility

Written by Mels

Purpose / Function

Lucky's Research Facility serves as a location for Lucky McDell to perform research of artifacts and invention or construction of new technologies.

Sensory & Appearance

Upon entering the workshop, one is immediately affronted with a mixture of chemical and metal smells, the warmth of the fire being kept up in the woodstove and, if he is working, various mumbles, squeals and grunts from Lucky himself.

Alterations

With failed experience resulting in damage, many areas of the structure have been repaired, rebuilt or remodeled altogether.

Architecture

The building is primarily constructed of a patchwork of rough wood and metal sheets with minor insulation whenever possible. A large observatory-style wing stands at one end to allow for viewing out into the tundra of the Northern Wastes. The interior is generally quite cluttered with various books and research materials, tools and tinkering instruments scattered across worktables as well as the remnants of any food scraps left over from Lucky's feverish breaks between tinkering sessions. Various stains of ash and other chemical residue can be found burnt into the floorboards throughout the structure. The only leisure-purposed area consists of a small wood fireplace a safe distance from a bundle of pillows and blankets in a worn hammock.

Defenses

The facility relies on the natural protections of the surrounding tundra and cave for it's primary mode of protection.

History

Lucky's Trading Post originated after Lucky McDell established his camp and began building his research facility. Adventurers and explorers passing through the harsh landscape took salce within the cave and would trade with and assist Lucky in building up his outpost, some eventually choosing to take up residence at the post, finding the homey atmosphere among the chaos of the snow bluffs to be comforting.

Tourism

Prior to the entirety of Lucky's Outpost being frozen solid by an experimental mishap, tourism in the form of adventurers passing through the area was relatively consistent.
