Freeze-Drying is a common form of food preservation in Helemia, although smoking is the more popular option for most meats.

Freeze-Dried foods are made by placing the fresh or "wet" foods on the peak of a mountain to freeze overnight, then to be sujected to the harsh sunlight until mid-day. The now-freeze-dried food items are then brought down the mountain and prepared for use.
