Elven City of Ari

Nestled inside a forest of the same name, the city of Ari is the third capital of elves among the three countries.

Demographics

Majority of all inhabitants are elves. There are a handful of other races, humans, dwarves and halflings being the most common minorities, but they pale in comparison to the elves.

Government

Ari is run by a council of five elves. Each elf is trained in one of the five major crafts, trades and skills of elven culture. They decide the laws and practices for their specialties. Anything else requires a full deliberation from all five.

Defences

The city is protected by a large group of soldiers who fly under the flag of Ari as if it were its own sovereign nation. However, as of late, the Great Swords, a mercenary group, has taken on contracts to keep it going.

Industry & Trade

As time has gone on, the city of Ari has become known for its crafts and the more wealthy noble families become, the more they funnel their wealth into the commission of crafts for their homes. Some shops cater exclusively to one family and are able to stay very comfortably funded.   Other shops and utilities exist. Weaponsmiths and tailors for "common" consumption. Crops are grown as are livestock kept, but it is limited to what can thrive in a forest without a lot of natural sunlight.

Infrastructure

All buildings in the city are built from trees in the forest.

Assets

The city is equipped with various shops and stores, but the main asset to the city is the craftsmanship. Each street has at least one crafts shop and there has yet to be any over-saturation in the market because each craftsman has a very unique spin on their work.

Guilds and Factions

The most recent (and powerful) faction to rise is the mighty mercenary military of Great Swords run by the cruel Reverius Tellothi.

History

After the fall of the second great elven capital, the refugees made travel to the City of St. Rosalyn to strike a bargain with the king. The exchange of land for rare materials was a well received one and the city of Ari broke ground. Being built into the forest allowed for a greater tactical advantage to various Orc invaders and the elves would flourish. Disaster would strike more than three hundred years later when the mad necromancer Aegis would attempt to invade very close to the city. Thanks to the efforts of the Giant Killers, the necromancer was slain and the city saved, but at the cost of the battle site being a necropolis and seemingly irreparably so. This caused what became considered the “sixth great elven skill” by the townsfolk to flourish: undead hunting.

Architecture

The architecture of Ari is built entirely out of the various trees in the Ari forest. Reinforced with delicate looking yet durable metals, the city is quite the site to behind. The streets are illuminated by lamps that are kept lit by a special bioluminescent fungus that feeds off of compost from the trees, creating a “city that never sleeps.”

Geography

Ari is built out of a forest and as such, has become known as a difficult place to invade due to the semi-tight spaces and near perpetual darkness from the tree cover. The Peanut Lake is right next to the city as is its main river of a similar name.

Natural Resources

Wood is the most plentiful resource of Ari, given its nature. The various berry crops and animals to be hunted and herded serve as a secondary resource.
