Custodians

A citizen reformist faction which arose after the Datum Riots (which were incited by the Second Crash) and has since been labeled an anti-government insurgent group by Firewall.

Structure

The group itself is actually rather small, numbering a few dozen and relying heavily on codenames and compartmentalization to protect it's members even as it relies heavily on citizen action and direct engagement with the people of Datum to get things done. The Custodian's structure is very loose given the group's limited numbers, though all decisions are generally made by the group's three leaders: Samuel Cotter, Deandra Byrne and Morgan Manelle.

Public Agenda

As of the Novem Protests that take place before the start of the game proper, the Custodians' Declaration of Public Intent is as follows:
  • The scaling down of the armaments and militarization of the Compliance Enforcement Core (CEC)
  • The immediate cancellation of Firewall policies that disproportionately allocate bytes to Essential and High Priority citizens at the expense of others' well being and the institution of a more even, equal distribution method moving forward.
  • The implementation of initiatives to help the homeless and impoverished citizens of Datum displaced from their homes as a result of the Infection Crisis.
  • The immediate dissolving of all information gathering and invasive monitoring initiatives currently being run by The Wire.
These goals are a reflection of the issues faced by Datum's common citizens in a post-Crash, post-Infection world in the face of Firewall's continued insistence of prioritizing the safety and well-being of Essential programs and itself in the face of continued hardship.

History

The Custodians in its earliest form existed purely as a partnership between Samuel Cotter and Deandra Byrne that started directly as a result of the Datum Riots in the fifth month of 20910 V3. In those days the pair were fairly reactionary and aimless until they were eventually joined by Morgan Manelle , a High Priority program then working with the Wire (though she later defected).
"Will you continue to kneel so Firewall can keep their boot on your neck, or will you rise up and start fixing what's broken?"   ~ Songbird   "All citizens are advised to avoid all contact with this Malicious Process and report any relevant information to CEC immediately."   ~ Firewall
