Waterrock Run

Waterrock Run is a directional river source used by the werewolves of the Winter Moon Pack as the current heads toward a back entrance of Caldows Hollow. The river runs through the Howling Woods, traversing close to the Glowlichen Forest, and down into Caldows Hollow. It branches off briefly into a small pond near Caldows Hollow and draws in some extra fauna from the Glowlichen Forest.   When pack members become lost either in the Howling Woods or the Glowlichen Forest, they search for any source of water that leads into the river. From there, they watch the river to see which way the current flows. The current never changes direction and rarely freezes over, even if temperatures drop to below freezing on Eskǎvaëís.

Inside Caldows Hollow, the river flows down into a small pocket where is splits off into various waterways, one continuing down south until it reaches the Írema Nerá Ocean. The merfolk blessed these water paths high consentrations of magick that run straight to Waterrock Run.   Planted by the river is a small house with a water wheel. For the last two hundred years, it has sat abandoned and has become a squatters place for the krer. While the closer you get to the Glowlichen Forest, the murkier the water gets thanks to the krer having polluted it over the decades. The krer also serve as a group of pirates who attempt to rob anyone the deem as carrying wealth and fine riches.   For safety reasons, the Winter Moon Pack harbors as treaty with the krer as a means use the locations for their pack runs while helping to keep the Itudean Army from invading their land.

Where is it located?

Howling Woods
Waterrock Run runs straight from the Winter Moon Pack to the Howling Woods, which serves as cover to Waterrock Run. It is a favorite hunting grounds for the the Winter Moon Pack as well as a famous fishing location for the krer. If one is cautious enough, they'll be able to stay on any path thatthey come across, even if the land is covered in snow.

Deep within the Howling Woods lies the Glowlichen Forest, a place where trees glow a variety of neon colors as well as mushrooms sprouting as tall as a human.

What species live there?

Fauna
Many types of aquatic creatures live within the depths of Waterrock Run, such as largemouth bass, koi fish, and catfish. There is also the krer, who are the only sapient species to live in (and out) of the river. Interested in the Krer?

Flora
by Alex-Prado (Pixabay)
In the Howling Woods, all trees and plants are common, such as the birch trees, oak trees, and pine trees. However, the Glowlichen Forest harbors many types of unique trees and plants, but what spawns the most around Waterrock Run is the everbright moss that seems to spurt out a purplish mist or spray of some kind that causes one to hallunicate weird visions (one person has reported to see their deceased grandma telling them about a lost heirloom). Other such plants are the bitterthorn and cherryleaf trees. The bitterthorn trees give off a dark glow and leak a poisonous sap while the cherryleaf trees glow bright and light up the forest to the point that some Winter Moon Pack wolves have mentioned seeing the glowing trees from their houses. The Winter Moon Pack wolves tend to favor the Howling Woods as they don't have to worry about the glowing flora of the Glowlichen Forest giving away their position when hunting.

Nice read. I was wondering about the Krer and why they pollute so much but then I saw the hidden section :p Nice to have some stats for them as well!

Feel free to check my new world Terra Occidentalis if you want to see what I am up to!

Thanks! I'm planning a few sneaky things with the krer and this river, so this challenge is exactly what I needed!

The Glowlichen Forest looks great on the map! The wording at the global header is tough, is that for players?

Thanks for the feedback! The header is actually for anyone reading my novels (which can be found under manuscripts). On the phone, the header probably looks like trash as I can't figure out mobile CSS for the life of me. Basically, to even read the manuscripts, you have to be in one of the subscriber groups, and it would also help you see any special notes connected to the various subscriber groups. I also have it set up so that you can be part of only one subscriber group at a time so that spoilers don't get revealed to others.

Oooh, glowing stuff is always neat to try to harvest, though very dangerous apparently.
