Sheltered Inlands Region

Located in the center of the Itude Empire, the Sheltered Inlands serves as the main region of the empire, complete with the capital city, Vol'nische and its neighoboring city is Zarahk'n, famous for holding Exotic Pet Auctions hosted by the royal family. The region also holds plenty of traditions in honor of the empire's establishment, Emperor Vladimir Tepes' marriage to Empress Sin-Yeona Cheonsa, and celebrations in honor of the Fates and Vavheia, the Dark.

Vladimir set a goblet full of blood onto the wooden table next to his wife. He looked at her, a soft smile forming on his face. Her belly created a huge bump, even with the large materinity gown on.

Vladimir Tepes: "My love, it won't be long now."

Glancing up at her husband, Sin-yeona gave him a small smile and then looked back at her book.

Sin-Yeona Cheonsa: "I just wish our little one would come sooner."

Vladimir Tepes: "They will. For now, we can focus on the empire. The Sheltered Inlands have a celebration in mind for when our little one arrives."

Geography & Climate

The region makes up the entirety of the large circle that wraps around Icywind Alps, Winter Pine Forest, and the lake just south of the mountains with the Marea Lumii Sea to the west of the mountains. It is also nestled by the Storms Reach, the Coastal Region, the Northern Narrows, and the Serphants Scope regions.

As a result, most of this area shares a similar subarctic climate to the Winter Pine Forest, though the area centered around the Icywind Mountains tends to be a highland climate, and most of the south—near the lake—is more tundra, featuring very little precipitation (usually less than 15 inches per year) and permafrost, where the subsoil is constantly frozen. Most of the northeast is dominated by a sizable flat, dry plain which is home to a selection of forts, villages, and towns. Most of the region’s interior is generally dry, forest-filled, and mountainous, unlike its neighbors, that almost all the settlements are focused around the lake, coast, or major river valleys.

The Chymoús War

Winter Pine Forest

Said to be the only forest surrounding the royal capital of Vol'nische, the Winter Pine Forest ensnares anyone who dares enter her without her permission in an endless void of fog and trees. Only those who have grown up and tended to her needs may enter without consequences. Dare you enter to face the chances of everlasting madness?

Fauna & Flora

The most known flora within the region are the ice nettle trees, which are deadly to werewolves, and they are located within the Winter Pine Forest. However, within the Winter Pine Forest, you can find the ellusive bloodroach as well rumors of faedragons.

Famous Cities, Sites, and Other Locations

Blood Moon Lake

The Blood Moon Lake is rumored to contain the location where blood crystals were formed. Although, no evidence has been proven.

Fiend Cavern

The Fiend Cavern is located with in the Icywind Alps and is used as a tunneling system between one side and the other. It basically makes travel much easier. Inside the cavern, one can find skeletons of dragons and a cavernous version of the bloodroaches.

Icywind Alps

The Icywind Alps are known to be a frozen set of alps on the right side of Vol'nische. When Emperor Vlad first arrived on the lower part of Chymoús, he traveled the land until he came across a set of mountains that looked like a dragon's spine. He convinced his people to cross over the alps until it got bitterly cold and a quarter of them parished. On the other side, Vlad saw the a vast valley of trees that he dubbed the Winter Pine Forest. He brought his people down into the valley and cleared out a large patch of trees, where the city of Vol'nische was built.

Locust Village

Locust Village is a small village located to the southeast of Vol'nische. It is the hometown of Zion Reose, leader of the Gears Rebellion.

Orktree Twifast Site

The Orktree Twifast Site is a mining opperation that focuses on digging up silver ore to be used with weapons in the empire. Ice nettle trees are planted around the area to ward off any wolf threats.

Vol'nische

Vol'nische is the capital city and surrounded by the Winter Pine Forest. The only way to get in and out of the city is through the Vol'nische cavern maze that leads between Vol'nische and Zarakh'n.

Zarakh'n

Zarahk'n functions as a large city that holds Exotic Pet auctions hosted by the royal family, and it is home to the Iliuard Train Station that is the only way into the Vol'nische cavern maze. When the Gears Rebellion was formed, the rebellion banded together to steal the Defender as it parked in the Iliuard Train Station as a means to help spread their cause all over the empire.
