Pagoménos Sea

TW: Mentions of depression, mental health issues, and suicide.
Set in the coldest region of Eskǎvaëís is the Pagoménos Sea, a still black expanse of water so cold that ice has formed in chunks all along the surface. It is located north of Chymoús but just south of the frozen wastes. In a lot of cases, the Pagoménos Sea is known for its strong currents and manipulative illusions of the surface that one does not realize the 6 mph (9.7 kph) current in the middle of the sea hides just below. Putting one foot in the water is certain death. The closer one is to land, the harder it is for the current to tug someone down beneath the waters. Records indicate that near land, the current is 1.2 mph (1.9 kph), whereas somewhat further out, the current is 3 mph (4.8 kph).
The sea has been dubbed the "sea of the dead" or the "sea of souls" due to all the reports of suicides, especially with the Chymoús War raging on for the past 500 years. Over the past centuries, thousands of boats have been found in the water, some containing letters explaining why they killed themselves. The water appears dark, almost ink black to the point one can only see a few feet into it. Even if one were to go into the water, they would only be able to see up to five feet in front of them since the dark, murky waters blur vision. Beneath that, the water is deep, seemingly endless, and some people swear they've heard the agonizing cries of the dead souls as they sailed by.

Fauna
There is no known flora that survives in the frigid waters, yet a variety of blue-bellied seals and northern glacier elk can be spotted on large ice patches that float across the waters. Surprising enough, the northern glacier elk are carnivores and feed off the blue-bellied seals, who live off of any small whales or fish that happen to live in the waters. There are also known reports of the remains of the deceased floating randomly near the seabed.
