The Liminal Zone

In the liminal zone between the tidally locked sun side and the forever dark night side, is an oasis of life. Creatures and plants of both sides can eek out an existence. The tall bromads with their black-red fronds grow shorter here, and a rare variety of green plant grows. As you near the dark side, short white wineek blossoms become abundant in the shade of taller plants. The temperature is temperate with the sun lower and more diffuse. The beauty is offset by the abomination of mingling. It is not just plants from light and dark that exist together here but the different peoples as well. Criminals and traitors find safety among the concealing foliage. They write their sigils into the hard skin the bromads and make mazes out of the red, spreading Ors. Nearer to the hub cities, the boundary lands are guarded with walls and troops, but that is not possible everywhere. There are rumors of strange creatures and secret cities within the endless, wild miles. Tales of easy to gather, medicinal binfinks have lured many a brave seeker to disappear in the lush oasis, and hungry hunters come back with ill with poisoned wounds. There are unnatural waters that flow above the ground and fall from the sky, and the seasonal winds are always present. The liminal zone is evidence created by the gods that our peoples and types should not mix. They have created a ring around our planet of dangers unimaginable to keep us apart, and only the most depraved consider going against their will. Should a traveler survive the traps of plant, animal, and earth, would they not be accursed for spitting at the very gods who showed them so faithfully not to continue on their errant path.
