   The Mighty Cassad Empire has fallen and the known universe descends into chaos. The Coalition of Free Worlds, the NEW regime, now reigns but without the order established by the Cassads. Wars between worlds erupt, the mighty prey on the weak and power shifts with every passing half cycle.
   Ose Cassad, the Alaafin of the Cassad empire, is executed on his home world by the New Regime leaving his son, Khalid, the heir to the Stool. The young prince has launched his own offensive in an attempt to save the empire; a mission to the End of the Known.
