The Rock of Andromeda

The Edekhans have a particularly effective way of doing things. They train an army of slaves that in their lives can only do one thing, and one thing only. They later encourage them breeding of those handcraft slaves to procure the passing of that knowledge unto the next generation of slaves, and them will upgrade the knowledge that befalls on to them with their own. And like that, the Edekhans has the best labor force in the entire known world.   And the Elesh has the best sails in the known world. The triremes, quinqueremes, all the variants, can travel fast, built with hundreds and hundreds of years of maritime knowledge. But not the knowledge of slaves, the knowledge of a people that was borne to rule the seas, even more so than the Keldorei. Voyagers, merchants, mercenaries, there is no single coast that has not seen the Elesh ships.   And so, my ship will unite this two concepts, Edekhan slaves with their masterwork abilities will build me a Quadrireme, an emblematic design that has altered the course of history since its conception. Two worlds will clash and the clash will make me a very rich and powerful man. The ruler of the sea.

Propulsion

180 oars , arranged in three rows, with one man per oar. The ship also had two masts, a main (histos megas) and a small foremast (histos akateios), with square sails, while steering was provided by two steering oars at the stern (one at the port side, one to starboard).

Weapons & Armament

They use two main modes of combat in the Rock of Andromeda, as usual with the Elesh ships: Boarding and ramming. Artillery in the form of four Edekhan Scorpions was used to, but only in tandem with the archers on board or to probe the enemy.   Rams were fitted to the prows of warships, and were used to rupture the hull of the enemy ship. The preferred method of attack was to come in from astern, with the aim not of creating a single hole, but of rupturing as big a length of the enemy vessel as possible. The speed necessary for a successful impact depended on the angle of attack; the greater the angle, the lesser the speed required. At 60 degrees, 4 knots was enough to penetrate the hull, while it increased to 8 knots at 30 degrees. If the target for some reason was in motion in the direction of the attacker, even less speed was required, and especially if the hit came amidships.   Boarding was the second and least used tactic in ship to ship combat, and so it was limited for the amount of warriors that one had in the ship and not were part of the normal crew, because one does not want to put a savy ship crew in the first line. So, mercenaries, pirates and other cutthroat´s were hired to defend or atack when boarding tactics were used. A line of ten archers of Keldorei origin, four Knights of the Republic, ten Tusken or Elesh hoplites and another ten individuals of non descriptive origin, more individualistic warriors that were constantly changing, in one port they would hire five local glauch pirates, and in other port they would hire another thing.

Armor and defense

The best armor for the Rock of Andromeda, like the other ships of its type, was its maneuverability, it could not stand a direct atack of another like it. Speed and maneuverability were its choosen means of defense, able to outrun enemy vessels more armored and powerfull than her.

Sensors

Kaleucha served as the Boatswain for the ship, using her powers as a Seer to change the orders in the midst of battle to adjust to her visions, scaning the future to sail for better paths. So, in a way, she is better than the scaner sensors of modern ships.
