Kyenashi Empire

An Empire gone over in History

The Kyenashi Empire was a once great power that dominated the mid-southern parts of Dysvoll. At its greatest, the empire controlled significant parts of what is known today as Ashilder, Olinthis, Umilnon, the northernmost parts of Merinon as well as a small area of southern Elken. Most historians agree that the empire existed for well over 700 years. Some argue that it existed for much longer than that, but the sources that point to this have not all been positively verified as legitimate.

The heart of the Empire is often said to have been in what we know today as Olinthis, however, this is also the area with the least archaeological finds from the period. This is due to the vast amounts of swamps found in the area. The moisture and dampness sped up the damage done to the buildings over time and caused more frequent collapses.

The fall of the empire

Through its hundreds of years of dominance over the region the empire had seemed invincible, and no other nation at the time managed to go up against it and emerge unscathed. The strength of the empire was not to be trifled with, and for years, no one dared. Many wished to see the downfall and ruin of the empire, but no one could gather enough people who were brave and willing enough to try. When the inevitable descent of the Kyenashi Empire finally arrived it was chaotic, violent and all-encompassing. The strength of the empire had been intact and the downfall was not caused by any outsiders, but rather, the true problem had been brewing at the very heart of Kyenashi.

Death of a leader

In 816 ADF, Emperor Yarken, the last emperor of Kyenashi, died without having established a clear heir to the throne. He's had numerous children, born of many different women. Those children had gone on to create offspring themselves. However, none of the descendants had been legitimate heirs, as Emperor Yarken was frivolous and his attention was fleeting. He'd never married, he hadn't seen a reason to.

This culminated in a bloody civil war over who deserved the throne. The empire didn't manage to come out of it in one piece, but rather, was split into many smaller regions, each with a new regent. These separate areas became the foundation of the nations known in the current Dysvoll.

The peace negotiations between the fragmented empire was held at the emperor's grave, as no one dared betray each right at the resting place of the dead emperor. No one wanted to invoke the wrath of Yarken.
