Kersil Selen Character in Dark-Fall | World Anvil

Kersil Selen

Leader of a proud people

Clover Chief Kersil Selen (a.k.a. Kers)

Kersil Selen is a well-respected and well-liked figure in the community of Kloevenlev. He is the leader of the town, which is situated in the mostly uninhabited Kloevendal in Ashilder.

Life of a leader

Coming from a small but financially stable family, Kersil had a relatively normal childhood growing up in Kloevenlev. His everyday life closely resembled that of other kids around him. Life in Kloevenlev differed a bit from other towns in Ashilder, due to its remote placement and lack of influence from the government.

Young life

He spent most of his formative years learning the way of life in the valley, receiving an education and helping out his family and neighbours with the crops. However, being a farmer was not what he wanted out of life. He had a dream from when he was a young child, of becoming a Valley Warden and protecting the town from monsters and the like!

Becoming Valley Warden

He went into training to become a warden and was taken on as an apprentice at the age of 16, which is the age limit set by the wardens themselves. He got through the education at a decent pace and became a full-fledged warden when he was just shy of 20 years of age. It was said that the handled his Warden Initiation Night very well and that some of the wardens were impressed with him.

Becoming Clover Chief

As his life progressed, he made his way up in the ranks as a warden and in the community.
He became known as a helpful and kind man, who helped where it was needed.   When he was 39 years old, he was elected as the town's Clover Chief and has been reelected every term since.   He is hailed as a wonderful and inspiring leader and as a kind human being.
He's one of the greatest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, that's right, Kersil is a most wonderful man!   But of course, you know that already. Everyone in town knows, that he's done so much for this lovely community.
— Inhabitant of Kloevenlev

Resolving Grave Conflict

One of Kersil's most notable moments as Clover Chief came just one year after he was sworn into office the first time during the Fae Incident of 1557.   The fae had discovered that a human town had been built where they had carried out the signing of the Treaty of Kloevendal. This was an important event for the fae, as it ensured peace between them. In a moment of rage, the fae decided to attack. Partly due to the location, and partly because the fae were still furious about the human assassin who killed their first Arch High Fae.   Kersil managed to talk down the angry leaders of the attack and in the end, his diplomacy earned Kloevenlev some respect in the fae world.

Hi there! You may not know me, but I am the sponsor of the Great Leader of Their People Summer Camp Prompt this year! Since you wrote this article, I would like to know, would you mind me reading it aloud on my Twitch channel this week? I have a lot to get through so it helps to do it live while people watch. I've scheduled to go live at 8am and 8pm Eastern Time every weekday. If you join and comment, I can go over your article right then and there! If you'd like to coordinate a specific date, let me know. If you aren't able to make it (or don't want to be present live), you can also always watch streams after the fact on my YouTube channel   BUT, if the answer is NO because you'd rather I not, it's okay! Not agreeing to be streamed definitely does not put you at any disadvantage for winning in my eyes. Please respond swiftly by replying here (make sure to click REPLY under my comment or I won't be notified), message me on my World Anvil profile page, Discord, or anywhere else you find me online.   Thanks again! Whatever you choose, God bless and much success! <3
