Lycanthropy

Lycanthropy is a disease that causes the afflicted to transform into some kind of beast under certain conditions, the most common of which being a wolf-like creature under the full moon. Those affected by lycanthropy are hurt by the touch of silver, and they tend to lose control of themselves completely, feasting on the hearts of any living thing near them while in their beast form. In some rare cases, lycanthropes have been known to control their bestial forms, but some live whole, full lives never knowing what they do under a full moon.

Transmission & Vectors

Lycanthropy is genetic, and when passed from parent to child there is a much better chance of the new lycanthrope being able to control their beast from. Lycanthropy can also be passed onto another by saliva to blood or blood to blood contact, thus creationg a stereotype of being bitten to turn.

Causes

Not much is truly known of the disease itself, only that those affected by Lycanthropy are favored by Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt an the Moon. It is believed that Lycanthropy is a gift that was granted by her to her chosen.
