The Pantheon
The coming of men is an event that has always been clouded in mystery. The descendants of the First Men know nothing about their forefathers’ origins, and the oldest available historical records only relate their unwillingness to talk about their past.
The First Men did bring a form of religion with them. They have always believed there to be eleven Gods, whom together they call the Pantheon. Among these eleven Gods there are two fallen Gods, or devils; Angrod, Lord of Fury, and Zobaal the Corruptor. All Houses of Men agree on the rule that forbids worshipping these Gods. Doing so can result in severe punishment. The Pantheon includes the following Gods:
Agni, Lady of Fire, Goddess of Fire
Angrod, Lord of Fury, Lust and Impulse
Eos, the Wind Serpent, God of Wind
Herod, God of War, the Great General
Lilith, Goddess of Growth, Renewal and Life, the Mother
Saros, God of Knowledge, the Loremaster
Thoradim, God of Craft, The Allsmith, Shaper of Earth
Turièn, Lady of Light, Goddess of Hope
Velos, the Great Whale, Shaper of Seas, Streams and Tempests
Zobaal the Corruptor, God of Sin, Deceit and Corruption, Lord of the Void
Zulu, the Thunder King
Any of the Gods, save for Angrod and Zobaal, can be worshipped or prayed to whenever there is need to. Farmers often pray to Mother Lilith, begging for a bountiful harvest, but they also turn to Velos, praying for rain, perhaps to stop the drought that is ruining their crops. Warriors might be seen bowing to Herod before engaging in combat, or praying to Agni to ignite their spirits with the fury they need to overpower their enemies.
Mankind used to compensate for the uncertainty of their history by practising their religion vehemently. Over time, the power religion has over the minds of men has dwindled, as most people in power only care about increasing the power they already have.
