Cathedral of the Voice

Cathedrals of the Voice are the main hubs of the organization's activity. There are currently four of them on the Dain continent, and building of the first Zean Cathedral is being planned in near future.   Cathedrals are centerpieces of their own a small, walled towns, able to accommodate several hundred people. Looked at from above, the settlements resemble a circle divided by a parallel line. The general population has access only to the first section. It has inns for the traveling pilgrims, all the stores and workshops the citizens needs, and housing for the dozens of people necessary for the settlement to function. In the middle of the wall, which bisects the circle in the middle, is the Cathedral itself. While accessible for everyone on one side, only members of the Choirs can exit into the other semi-circle.There, members of the two lower Choirs and those rejected from ascending live and learn the ways of the Voice, hoping one day to gain access to a small district by the far wall, where the higher Choirs reside.   The first Cathedral was built around 250BU in Queenshome, a city rebuilt where the throne of the legendary queen Alfhild once stood. Hoping to restore her legacy, the Voice's second founder, Edmon Kur, taught his closest disciples how to perform miracles and settled a town, quickly gaining popularity and funds from the surrounding nobles. Initially, only a small church fit for 50 people stood there. Its remnants can still be seen in the non-public section of the new Cathedral town. The town itself was redesigned and enlarged several times over the decades, until the last renovation was finished in 50AU, giving it its present shape and form.   The Queenshome Cathedral is a monument able to fit several thousand people. It is a dome several stories high, half-buried in the wall dividing the settlement. The number of columns necessary for the structure to stand was reduced as much as possible, forcing the dome itself to have additional rib-like structures protruding from it. Numerous pews encircle a round stage, upon which the Choir of up to a hundred can enter. Additional alcoves for singers are spread throughout the walls. Stained glass windows cover large areas of the roof, adding color to the mostly black and white interior.   The second Cathedral was built in the Sand Creek, the home town of Edmon Kur, in the east of what was previously Wyeh. It underwent similar reconstructions to the previous one, delayed in time, but quicker due to a number of quarries in the vicinity. It is significantly smaller, but boasts of a devout rural and mining population.   The third Cathedral was built nearby the capital of Erwy, with the construction starting shortly before The Unification War and ending in 60AU. The initial building site of fourth one, in the old Wyeh capital of Wyental, was destroyed during the Sadantes Coup. It was relocated outside the city to finally open its doors in 80AU.
