Excerpt:   "There are three types of magic in the world, each originating from a different plane of existence.   The first comes from the outer planes, the origin of everything, it is a void and will not be discussed in detail in this or any other text. Suffice it to say that any magic originating from the outer planes is both dangerous and forbidden.    The second is Divine Magic and comes from the heavenly planes, the realm of the gods. Those chosen by one of the gods, Clerics Paladins, and Druids, are given a piece of the divine to carry in their bodies and souls, tying them to their patron and the heavenly plane. Each god grants different flavors of magic pertaining to their individual nature and will be discussed in detail in chapter 2.    The third is Arcane Magic and comes from the material plane, where humans live out their lives. This is the magic practiced by Mages and Sorcerers. Everything in the material plane holds some combination of the five elements, fire, water, wind, earth, and ice, and it is the combination and manipulation of these elements that allow Mages to craft their spells, the details of which will be discussed starting in chapter 3.    Here I will take only a moment to touch on the nature of Sorcerers. Humans who manifest arcane magic not from disciplined study but from their bodies driven by their emotions. Each Sorcerer holds the power of one of the elements in its raw and uncontrolled form. The power manifests at or around puberty and due to the dangers associated with its existence, a Sorcerer's magic is either trained by Mages or sealed by the government..."
