Ilhan Simil
Born into poverty within the windswept basin of the Hollow Sea, Ilhan Simil spent her childhood obsessed with the stars. Even before she could read, she would beg her village elders to tell her stories of the constellations and the ancient goddess that had shaped them. By the time her seventh birthday came, Ilhan had claimed for herself a place at the most prestigious school in the known world: the Crystal Lyceum in Corubanis.
Over the following years, Ilhan became known as one of the most promising students to ever study in the city of learning, and by the time she completed her studies in astronomy and mathematics, she was widely regarded as the greatest Narvese scholar in the world.
Yet her greatest contribution to the people of D'neth would be a work that would occupy her every thought for more than three decades. Finally at the age of eighty-three, after years of diligent study and research, Ilhan unveiled her magnum opus, a universal calendar that could accurately predict and adjust for celestial drift for the next ten millennia.
Her work was heralded as a massive step forward for historians, scientists, and mages alike. Diviners in particular were enthralled by the possibility of developing far more accurate scrying rituals for both the past and the future, while astronomers were able to use her star map to create navigational technologies that far outstripped their predecessors. Although, Ilhan passed away the following year, the various scholarly bodies voted almost unanimously to name her calendar in her honor: the Similian Calendar.
