Etherium, The Adamantine of the Future!: Archived News Article for the Ekklisian Observer, by Jessin Volair
Researchers at the University of Ethereal Ekklisia have made startling claims to have discovered "the dead-matter of the Material Sphere" [Raulnor, 52AD]. Head of the researching team, Doctor Kellen Raulnor of the Gnomic Institute for Impoverished Innovators (Gi3), made the announcement yesterday alongside the release of his team's findings titled 'Etherium, a Study and Analysis of Matters Discovered in the Ethereal Core.'. The event was attended by a number of the city's most influential figures...
(..the article diverges into socialite drivel with several paragraphs dedicated to the dress and drama of the wealthy attendees...)
...was protested by followers of the Cynthian Church. Stating that the research bordered on heresy and was an insult to both The Huntress Cynthia and The Creator. Protests threatened to become violent after a local Cynthian cleric, Drusilia Berevan, drove wild beasts to assault attendees. Fortunately, a swift intervention by the Paternal Order prevented any damages beyond torn clothing and laid to rest any further conflict for the evening. We approached Cynthia's High Priestess Perra Fharngnarthrost for comment on the actions of her clergy but the recently appointed draconian is yet to make a response.
But how will these discoveries affect us, the citizens of Ekklisia? Doctor Raulnor spoke of the implications of these discoveries in his speech, proposing that if we can understand the so-called 'Dead Matter' of the Ethereal Sphere, then we can manipulate it. He spoke of our city not only taking shelter within the Ethereal whilst the storms of violence rage in the Material but flourishing here, creating not only refuge but a home for all peoples fleeing the wars of the old world.
Whether such rhetoric will bring the University of Ethereal Ekklisia enough funding to continue this research or simply consign the discoveries to radical academics playing Creator is yet to be determined. As tensions continue to grow within all districts of the city, we at the Ekklisian Observer hope that we can continue to come together and move forward in these trying times.
May Cynthia shelter us.
