Newday, 1st of Sowmeadow, y214 of the Crown   We met with Grand General Threev today, an old friend. He's heard of our little guild, knows our effectiveness. He and I go way back, so he sent word to us ahead of time of the new job that came from the High King himself. It was right good, Manlee's Stop hasn't been the same since The Distinguished Ogre burnt down. Still aint sure if Ashara had anything to do with that. Can't blame her if she did though, after the owner trying to get handsy with her.   Threev set us up. Two jobs. First and foremost: the cult talk i've heard rumors of has apparently drawn crown attention. Guess it's real, or real enough to be investigated. We have the task to look into the situation, see if some doom-to-us-all cult really is trying to end our cycle before its truly began. The grounds losing its moisture, trades apparently all but stopped beyond the greater borders, and some of the smaller farming hamlets are simply disappearing. We have a Seal from the High King himself, a blood-bound signing confirming it, to let me and mine look into it.   Second, and probably more important in the short term, we have an Inquisitor to look for. Went out to a farming community named Skad. It's not on the maps, too small, but we have it marked. They lost contact with the Inquisitor and can't find him through scrying, so we are the search party. Seems odd to me. Skad swears fealty to Enderfaso, but even if they don't send a party, why not Treesko nearby? Heard rumor last week about tension in the alliance, maybe there is truth to it?   Regardless, I trust my team. They haven't let me down and I know they never will. Except with naming our damn selves. I swear that coming up with a proper name is harder than plucking an owlbear. General Threev gave us a Magirium Ticket, and a couple vocal orbs to keep in touch. I pulled 200 marks from the guild coffers to get everyone started as well as a few basic supplies. They used the ticket today, heading to Enderfaso, as it'll be a two-day journey from there to Skad. Fingers crossed they don't find trouble in that desolate city.
— Drosko Silvold's Diary

Beginning in Valtaska

Our session began with a quick review of Session 0 and asking if anyone had any questions, specifically setting related. The group was eager to play, so we began quickly. Each character gave a description and explanation of their character as they walked down the stairs to meet Drosko at the inn they stayed in.   After introductions, Drosko led the PC's to the Shimmer Castle in Valtaska where they were led to a private meeting room built into the boarder wall. Inside, they met Grand General Threev inside, who proceeded to tell them about the new job being offered by the High King. Their main task was to investigate the rumors of a cult that has sprung up in Tanaviak, but their most immediate goal was to locate an Inquisitor investigating problems occurring in the small farming hamlet of Skad. They were given a magically binding document that gave them authorization to investigate on behalf of the High King, each PC signing it with a blood-binding ritual.   With the task at hand, the group was handed a one-way teleportation ticket, a vocal orb to keep in contact with Drosko, healing potions, the seal, and 200 marks. The group divided up the supplies, went shopping for a few supplies, then headed towards Enderfaso via the Magirium Transportation.

First Clues in Enderfaso

When the group arrived, they debated whether to head directly for Skad or look around in Enderfaso for any word on cult activities. They ultimately decided to look in Skad, first stopping in The Wizard's Sleeve, but finding little information, instead being directed to the Broken Boulder in the Reclamation District.   On entering the tavern, Ashara began eavesdropping on the patrons, learning that there is a shortage on Mithral, but there are high-paying jobs to work on it out east. While she didn't know the specifics of Mithral, she did know that it was a bit unusual for there to be a sudden shortage of it.   The rest of the group, at the bar, began fishing for rumors. Victalyasa and Embra discovered that there was some "strange fellows" that pass through and have work south in Benira, also noting that they have some place out east that they are from. When Ishmael pushed for more information, the bartender began to question why they were so interested. Ishmael then informed him they were hunting down the cultist.   Scaring the man, he said he had work to do in the back real quick and decided to rush back. It was obvious he was hiding something, so Embra and Ashara chased him through the back while Ishmael and Victalyasa ran to circle around him. On the run, Embra spotted an unusual shrine in the backroom, feeling a strange effect as she passed it, but ignored it in her chase. The man was finally caught by Ashara who managed to run past Embra on the wall, landing down on the bartender and pinning him to the ground.   The group began questioning the man, not believing a word he said. When Embra mentioned the shrine, they went to investigate it. On approach, a strange, alien sensation twisted at each of them, but only Victalyasa felt the effects change her, convincing herself of her inability to be harmed. The bartender broke free at this point, distracting everyone in a chase down, but Ashara stayed. The group managed to knock down the man and tie him up.   Ashara, noting that the shrine had superficial similarities to a shrine to Gavathrak. She felt Gavathrak's disapproval, so she struck down on it, destroying it. Thinking it would please her god, she was disappointed when he didn't respond, and felt a rage build in her, lashing out, destroying the back room and kitchen, slaying the single cook that was in the back. Ending the session with the blood of the man dripping from her runic blade.
