Over three millennia after the death of Kepleditian Emperor Kinzer Arran VI, his will is coming to fruition. A new era is dawning on the galaxy.

In the year 6,252 CE, almost four thousand years ago, the slow and inevitable death of the Kepleditian Empire was predicted by the ecumenopolis central AI on Kepledus. After several decades of calculation and speculation across the empire by the most prestigious mathematicians and AI, a plan was formulated: since the salvation of their own empire was statistically impossible, the highborn of Kepledus elected to take a risk for the sake of their noble blood. Rather than cling to the vestiges of a ruined empire, they would sow the seeds of a new one. An artificial vessel was created to embody the will of the Imperial throne, called the Crown Wraith. The Wraith would inherit the empire's collective knowledge and resources, as well as its cryogenically stabilized heirs, with the directive of creating a ringworld, the Crown, in order to serve as the seat of sovereignty of the new empire.

As the Kepleditian Empire faded and died, the people of their colony worlds lived on, unaware of the chaos of the Crown Wraith project which engrossed the nobility of the home world. Visits from home world liaisons came less and less reliably, until the day of the last. Lacking the infrastructure and materials to upkeep their most advanced technology, each world fell out of touch with the rest of the galaxy. Over the next millennia, a dark age befell the colonies as the Crown Wraith commanded its battalion of drones in secrecy. Struggling to survive in isolation, some worlds have since rediscovered spaceflight and have begun to coalesce against all odds, but will it last? Under the seeded civil doctrine of Kinzerism being spread from the Crown, faster-than-light technology is restricted knowledge, and colonial denizens are held in serfdom. As Crown hangs completed around Sigma Draconis, the ARCHON Conglomerate has already reclaimed the ruined ecumenopolis of Kepledus under leadership of President Brenn Dheron.

Will the old worlds be able to repel the ancient technological might of the Crown and claim their right to survive, or will they be absorbed in the perpetual rise and fall of empires?
