In the year 2068, humanity discovered how to access the hidden potential of the brain. Using a special cybernetic implant, people could use more of their brain power than ever before with no negative repercussions. However, this resulted in people unlocking various psychic abilities. The presence of these abilities created an imbalance of power among the populace, and uprisings sprung up, eventually leading to all-out wars. The psychers were ultimately defeated, but the governments of the world understood the power these people still held, so they began to implement psychers in their militaries and police forces to continue upholding the peace, and recreational use of the brain clamps that granted these powers was highly regulated.
