Venerable Mother Sophia
Venerable Mother Sophia was a nun in the Marilian church famous for her rhetoric skills and her opinions about philosophy and morality that surpassed the scope of many of her contemporary colleagues. She was probably the only human capable of out arguing a demon out of someone, instead of classically exorcising him - her arguments were literary that powerful that sometimes, the demon even apologised for the intrusion. The rich and the poor, the powerful and the weak, the believers and the atheists - all listened to her advice.
She was born as Janika Holaskova in a rural village to a family of merchants. She has joined the order as a 5 year old girl, because her parents were so ill at the time that they were unable to take care of her and because they were treated at a convent hospital, such a solution seemed convenient to everyone. Sophia was given an education focused first on training to be a nurse, but after her parents passed away two years later, she had taken a vow of silence and deep dived into theology as well. At the age of thirteen she joined the order and accepted the name of Sister Sophia (meaning "the wise one").
Despite her not talking to people for so many of her formative years, she turned out to be quite a capable speaker. At one occasion she explained that the angels have often talked to her during her studies. At that time it was explained as her processing her grief.
She was the first women to be given the title of a Deaconess of the Merilian church.
During the war, she helped smuggle out children form the war zones and sadly died two years before the conflict ended - being shot by an enemy sniper in an attempt to break the morale of the people to force them to surrender.
She is still revered by many, because of her frequent messages of compassion and forgiveness. Her death still being fresh in the memory of the people, there are some backroom talks about her beatification.
