Floralia Tradition / Ritual in Curse You | World Anvil
Floralia is a relatively new tradition taking place every first day of the fifth month - Florus - which has always been associated with lovers as the spring is usually in full swing by that time and blooming flowers are poking their little colourful heads everywhere. The purpose of this little celebration of love is for the couples to find a blooming tree somewhere nearby and kiss under its branches to secure good fortune for their relationship. Among the most popular trees are cherry, apple or birch trees.

History

It is believed this tradition started at the end of the war, probably right in the capital city Taresh, and then spread to the rest of the Republic. It is one of the rarer festivities that developed in the urban environment rather than in the country side. There is an anonymous poem named 'Floralia', that was published in the newspaper shortly after the declaration of peace, which has a kiss under a blooming tree as its main motive. It is basically a love letter to a boy who has been lost in the fighting and his lover is expressing their grief over all the things they will never do together, never experience again. The kiss beneath the blossoms seems to be the most important to their relationship. To this very day, there are many speculations about who the author might be.   The other contributing factor to the spread of this tradition is the fact that many of the cities and towns were utterly destroyed by the war and seeing something grow - and even bloom - among the ruins has been seen as the ultimate sign of hope.

Execution

You go out with your significant other for a nice walk in the hopes of finding a nice tree and then you smooch them. Or vise versa. Or both. It's fun! (And both of you'll get practise.)
