Welcome to Cryptic Heights. Visitors are advised to venture no further than the ground floor without good reason, and first time visitors are advised to find a guide before braving the stairwells or elevators. Under no circumstances should you venture into the basement, no matter what you may hear and no matter what you may be offered. For your own safety, please observe posted notices and familiarize yourself with the community notice board and newsletter. Note that the management assumes no liability for injury, loss of life, retroactive existence failure or forfeiture of sanity that may occur within the complex.     Funny the way fate leads us on an unseen path. Indeed many do not see how the path forks and branches.   I didn't, and look at where it landed me. Still, things could be worse. It's comfortable here in 404. Lonely, but comfortable.   You will not believe the things you read in my journal entries. I wouldn't have. Ignorance is bliss isn't it?   Rest assured they are very real. Things that go bump in the night. Monsters in the closet. Eerie howling on the full moon and portraits whose eyes follow you down the hall. Many things no human could hope to comprehend given ten lifetimes.   Do not panic. We of the tenements bear witness so the rest may live in blissful normalcy. So that the oddity within may be contained.   I am the Cryptic Chronicler.   Please, do not ask me where the tenements are. Do not come looking for them, nor for me. There are things that can never be unknown.   Just sit back.
