The Soul

The core of any living (and conscious) being, a soul is what seperates life from lifeless. While the reasons and mechanisms behind it are poorly understood, it is agreed upon by scientists around the galaxy that a 'soul' is required for any manipulation of caloric; and thus magic. Specifically, one needs a soul that is 'awakened' and overflowing with Animis. While a precise defenition of a soul has not been agreed upon, it is undoubtedly linked to consciousness. The only exceptions to this are Manifests, but they are treated as extensions of their parent god's soul for this purpose.
The Soul can have many colours, which all seem linked to the inherent character traits present in sentient beings. Souls have a type, colour, and are either awakened or dormant.
