Goldmouth
History
Founded in 65 BMR by explorer Bill Tortun, Goldsmouth was originally a fishing village. It remained so until the founding of the first trading company, Marine Feeders Trading Company, in 57 BMR. This led to a race for various trading companies to become the dominant economic power of the Golden Gulf. In 43 BMR, the Goldmouth Silk Co. mapped a highly efficient trade route through the Golden Gulf, which was eventually sieged by pirates led by Captain Holler. Holler was defeated in 21 BMR, when the various trading companies joined forces to destroy his fleet in exchange for GSC's maps. Although the trade routes were now protected, this nearly destroyed GSC as they lost their monopoly. This led to other companies competing to fill the vacuum.
In 15 BMR, the first salvage companies formed in the Golden Gulf, searching for lost pirate and merchant ships. These companies are still in operation. The Golden Gulf as a whole was highly contested during The Last Gilded War, and Goldenmouth had to heavily rely upon inland trading for supplies. This led Goldenmouth to be an early adopter of rail travel, establishing one of the first railways in Sonsbury in 7 BMR. The city has since mostly recovered its economic power, though the Golden Gulf is still contested.
