Deepblue

Deepblue is an afterthought to much of the Corvelle subsector. Despite its proximity to Patria and its prominent orbital port, the planet's society is rather cold to outsiders, and few set foot on the world itself. Not all share this dismissal, though; to the Scout Service and the Royal Navy, Deepblue is the gateway to frontier space.   Outside information on Deepblue's government and society is limited at best. The Traveller's Aid Society reports only the restrictions on imports and exports; offworlders are restricted to the orbital port facilities only, and importation of non-medicinal drugs and weaponry for commercial sale is expressly prohibited. The primary station serves as a relay in Royal communications networks to the frontier, and hence is something of a good resource for outbound expeditions, and extensive infrastructure is in place to refuel, repair, and rearm vessels journeying rimward.

Geography

Deepblue's surface is marked by countless jagged peaks, dividing it into dozens of irregular basins. Volcanoes dot the border ranges, belching gases that pool within the basins and give some semblance of atmosphere. Inside the basins, liquid water pools in geothermally-active seas, boiling into the thin air and condensing as acidic rain. The surface is, essentially, inhospitable to human life, not only due to its near-complete lack of solid land, but due to its rapidly shifting climate and intense weather. Despite it all, clustered habitat domes dot the ridges, harvesting subsurface mineral springs for rare and valuable elements.
