Story of Porcelana’s Mother and Father

Porcelana tells this story to Teresa and Ana Maria when asked if she knows why she is so pale:   Her father and mother were very much in love; very young but very in love. Her father would compose verses and rhymes which he used to make her mother laugh, telling her that she had the most beautiful smile in the world, and an even more beautiful laugh.   Her father died before she was born from an infection on his leg, and before he passed he placed his hand on Porcelana’s mother’s stomach, telling her that he would mark their child with his love, his love for them both was that strong. And that every time she looked at their child she would know just how strong that love was and be reminded of it daily.   There’s no way to know if this story is true, or something Porcelana’s mother told her for her own comfort.
