Tsark returned from sea to find his port incinerated. Bodies of everyone he knew destroyed, often with signs of torture. Tsark wrenched the small craft around only to be intercepted by an Asfa'hari skiff at the mouth of the harbor.
The Merchant did not remember being boarded. When he came to he was bound facedown on his deck. Blood from the deck covered half his face and soaked his mustache. An Asfa'hari's marine's armor had been caved in at a grotesquely deep angle, with his ribcage protruding out both sides. The deck was slick with blood and brains. Broken Asfa'ari corpses and their bits lay strewn about. Tsark noticed a dead marine slumped limp, pinned to the cracked mast by one arm of the anchor lodged into the wood past the fluke.
Well fuck.
