Heritor-Sultan Imran The Mad returned from the Crystal Pool over 200 years ago to establish the Asfa’han dynasty in the rocky desert Bizquil. His exploits, kingdom, and harem expanded over there the years as he managed a large slave-empire. The 100s children Imran sired from slave-concubines grew as lesser heritors and their children less so down the lines.
Seven Generations later, Asfa’han is riddled with strife, with power falling from the capital to local governors. Princes and pretenders engage in intrigue and murder in the harem, and war flares between provinces.
A minor Heritor-Princess, Azar Esfir, felt the pull of the Lost Isles as they surfaced once more. Her reputation suffered from her captivity in the hands of the Oshkenaz. If it weren’t for her ability to wraithwalk and her burning glare, she’d have been strangled long ago. In fact, it was the only reason she was capable of leaving the harem which led to more than a little trouble.
Princess Esfir was knew she was too weak to dominate a province, much less the kingdom. She needed to nurture her powers to return as ruler, even if a minor one.
Under cover of darkness, Princess Esfir slipped onto the Sultan’s Penal Barge and broke her longtime tutor Farnavaz (storm warden) from his cell and several others to sort the guards out. Farnavaz called the wind and the alarm was raised and under a clear, starlight sky the criminal crew sailed toward the Lost Isles.
