Crescier - Continent

Climate

Crescier is a very warm planet thanks to the nearness and size of its moon Fotiun as well as the thickness of it's oxygen rich atmosphere. The east coast of the continent gets the most of this heat as Fotiun rests right above the eastern coastline at 0° North and West. The western coast is still warm, but is noticeably cooler, especially at night. Because of these two factors, there are no polar ice caps. Instead, most of Crescier is covered in thick tropical jungle and rainforests. Deserts and swamps are also fairly common on the continent.

Geography

Crescier is the supercontinent on the planet of the same name. It takes up approximately a third of the planets surface area, centralized along the equator. It stretches from about 60° North to 75° South and 195° West to 30° East. The continent has three major mountain ranges; one along the northern coastline, one along the western coastline, and the last on the south-eastern peninsula. These were created by the collision of major plates. Other smaller ranges exist due to volcanic hotspots and minor fault lines within plates. Freshwater is abundant on Crescier, with many large rivers and lakes. One lake in particular, The Orphan Sea, is enormous and entirely fresh water.

Fauna & Flora

Due to the tropical nature of Crescier, life has flourished in an innumerable variety of shapes and sizes. Insects thrive in the oxygen rich environment, ranging in size anywhere all the way up a couple feet wide or long. They compete with the incredible diversity of land mammals and reptiles all across the continent. Massive aquatic creatures call the deeper lakes and rivers home. Tree-sized fungi live in the extensive cave systems beneath the surface, as well as other strange troglodytes adapted to life away from the sun. Trees themselves can grow many hundreds of feet tall, with trunks that are dozens of feet wide. Smaller plants take advantage of the amount of animals around them, with many species adapting different ways to catch and consume unwary creatures.
