Rhyddhawyd

Despite all the settlements and cities that are scattered around the land, there is still number of nomadic tribes that roam free of all constraints. Although no one knows exactly how many there are or how they operate there are a few that are known in legend. One of these legendary tribes is The Rhyddhawyd (The Released), this tribe in particular is different as it is comprised mostly of women, children and the most vulnerable members of society. Each story about them is different some good, some bad, some true and some false. Like most legends though their truth lies in a mix of all those stories. Whilst they don’t steal the vulnerable from villages so they can have new slaves, they do sent parties to visit those who need help in their society and offer them refuge and a home in which they will be valued.   The reason that they can find these people is through their unrestrained use of magic. Before the Elite took over and started banning the use of magic, the knowledge was shared amongst everyone through books, scrolls and rituals. Whilst most were confiscated on mass after the rulings came in, the nomadic tribes managed to retain their copies. As time has passed the knowledge they have has grown as their tribe expands and more sources are added to the library. They practise many types of magic, divination being the one they are most known for, using this they help those who need it and are often the first people to respond when a natural disaster happens.   What most people don’t know about the tribe is that whilst they are nomadic by nature they do have a base in the Gwyrdd Mawr that they go back to, this is a place of very strong magic that connects them to the earth and to all the elements as it’s the intersection of ley lines. The tribe itself often splits into smaller groups as those who are less mobile stay at the base camp with the children and help school them. Those that are more active will often be sent out as envoys to help those that have appeared to the elders as people who can join the tribe. As the tribe has valuable knowledge and children to protect there is a group of people that are the warriors that’s main purpose is to protect the camp and the tribesmen.
